wow it's been ages since i've last blogged hasn't it. yeah it has. lazy to blog.
went down for training after my ocrm test. test was.. um.. i wrote stuff there, but i'm not sure whether those were the answers teach was looking for. hmm well i can learn from it then.
as i brought the weaps up to sports hall.. 2 dudes were like 'hey don't kill someone with this man' and i was like 'er.. riiiiiggghhhtt' with the wavy-eyebrow-narrowed-eyes-finger-pointing-in-a-gun gesture. i was hesitant to go bloodlust-psycho-then-haha-kidding for a while but i guess the latter wouldn't really play so well.
went up, stretched, stretched some more.. and just went in with the kicks and stuff. after front sweep, break.
tried to pull a btwist out at first but couldn't cos muscles were cold and not responsive. so i just practiced the T-jump
eugene coach said:
don't swing your back leg, just lift up
and i got back my good old T-jumps :)
Thanks coach!
then i got keith to check the level of my T-jumps after we practiced the taolu.. hey horizontal and straight-legged after the third try! the next one i went in for the twist... and i did it! except bent legged. :l
Tips from experience:
if the floor is looking high, it's fine because you are horizontal
if you land somewhat into a comfy standing position after that, it's also fine, because i was horizontal
point your damned effing right foot and get it straight!
just twist dammit! (eyes over shoulder, wrapped, use waist)
don't need to use a lot of energy one la! relax!
and then i didn't do a second one cos my fear came back and my legs gave way as i wanted to jump. ):
and then.. commotion! somehow jian siong broke his nose with his knee..
it was crooked. and i guess a little flattened..?
and then coach was telling the jiti kids and wei rong smth and they all sort of looked at me for a while and i was all.. uh.. awkward for a while.. haha
then wei rong told me smth to counter what has bothered me and hindered my btwist and tricking progression for a very long time now
wei rong said:
if you want to do stunt, do all the way. don't stop. don't think. just do. you crash already then evaluate. in midair already just go all the way. don't in midair think 'aiya wrong', which lead you to crash. you either do or you don't do.
thanks wei rong!
i was enlightened. epiphany struck. seriously. omg. this is the secret sauce!
the main points:
Don't hesitate
Don't think until end of move
clear your mind beforehand
DON'T THINK
DON'T THINK
DON'T THINK
DON'T THINK
DON'T THINK
THINKING WAS WHAT MADE ME STOP HALFWAY!
while turning round and round for btwist, i would usually
THINK --> THOUGHTS --> THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR --> FAIL? --> SUCCEED? --> no i don't wanna fail and hurt myself for nth --> oh wait --> ah heck dammit --> not again!! DAMN YOU FEAR
Fear in this sense are a chain of thoughts right before the move.
so i have to forget it in order to fight it, and not fight it. fighting it would lead to thinking, which isn't what i want. so i have to forget! aha!
the other thing is confidence.
confidence builds from familiarity and your physical wellness
so in order to execute tricks now i have to:
like it
familiarize
practice set ups
actually do it (no thinking!)
evaluate
improve
coach ky, hui ying and jesslyn then sent jian siong to the hospital. and i thought that i shouldn't do another btwist in these circumstances. if i got hurt it would really be stupid and embarassing.
so keith and i just sort of.. tried to practice but his arm and my neck was still sore so we didn't train all that much.
come to think about it, i didn't train that much either. i'm not even feeling tired! sheesh
could've spent it on training kip ups. ugh
GET WELL SOON, JIAN SIONG! though i know you don't read my blog. ha
