i think this blog will talk nothing but wushu and how i'm dissatisfied with my body mastery.
i'll try to talk about other things though.. Try. Sorry, jan and bev!!
i find that breaking these moves down to little parts help me understand them Better and find that i can execute them much easily
Butterfly kicks
my butterfly kicks are quite good already, judging from coach kimyong's reaction when he saw them. I also feel awesome when doing them too! i'll train HARD on it so i can proceed to the butterfly twist, and hopefully the 720 by year 3. i gotta make some minor tweaks to my set up to improve on them first. here's hoping to being taught by an expert!
Lotus kicks
i think i'm getting better at them.. wait. i AM getting better at them. last week, i couldn't even get that leg out to kick. this time, i can even do the standing version! although, i think the standing version is easier for me as i'm not used to j-stepping to the right side in the running version.
Tornadoes
i still can't grasp the feeling yet. i gotta wait until results show from either during formal training, or just one of my experimenting periods during the break after basics(i got my b-kick here!). the set up should be the major cause.
flying front kick (fei jiao)
i'm getting shin splints on my right almost everytime i land it, argh!!!!!! i gotta focus on keeping my back straight.. and focus more on this move than the previous two kicks as this is the pre-requisite of them(the previous two are just this kick with rotation). the shin splints hurts ass - er i meant leg. lol. gotta observe how the pros like yikeng and jianwei do them.
aerials
i landed my first aerial of the day(or maybe week) and failed my subsequent aerials. yes, more shin splints and hurt. landed the second aerial, but the next second, i was down on my knees as my shin can take no more. my third aerial or so, i bailed and landed on my head and my fourth was the same as the second. suhui told me that my aerials were low, and i should bend my right leg while landing to absorb the impact; this probably meant i've been landing with my leg stick-straight. and also, it probably means i need to start cartwheeling again.(thanks, suhui!) ugh.. basics, basics basics!
basics
gotta work on them even more. sometimes i think my technique is wrong when i'm not happy with how i'm doing them and is really hoping someone would tell me that there is some secret to this technique i missed out, so when i do them, it's the perfect one. it's kind of like.. consoling myself. cos if someome told me that my technique was wrong the whole time, then i'd be happy about my body mastery. something like, i can do it one, it's just that i'm doing it wrong and not knowing it. honestly, it's practise that i really need and not some lie.
stamina
it sucks, just sucks. i'm really hoping for something magical to do something about it, as stamina training is really time and effort consuming.. and it's also something long-term........ and i'm just plain lazy. my words above are enough to tell you how much of an impatient person i am when it comes to my body.
jump spins
to the left - 720deg
to the right - 540deg and inconsistently 720deg
i gotta get myself used to spinning to the right and cross-legging them to get a consistent 720deg
i'm hoping to achieve 1080deg someday too! that's the max so far a person can do on a hard surface.
i'm assistant welfare btw
i gotta do first aid when someone is hurt, plan camps and organize outings.
since i've already 'accepted' the role, might as well not run from the job and do it well. planning camps and stuff might be ok, as i did them before, but organize outings?! man i have a Lot to learn and many psychological barriers to overcome.
alright, time to make my noodles and watch mtv. T~T no money to buy a proper meal!! gotta learn to save man... which means less food ):
