i'm considering changing course from chemical process tech to marine engineering, after hearing what my sis' friend was being paid, and life on deck.

he's just finished his diploma, like my sis and he's working on a cargo ship. he's getting paid around 10 - 20 thousand a month. what's more, food and lodging provided. though life at sea means you have to sacrifice social life, but that's okay with me. since i'm not exactly a social creature, i won't feel like i've missed out anything. on top of that, i get to tour the world in a way. and i won't be stuck on land.. with the scary 9 - 5 job, in the scary corporate world. ew corporate.
my mum also encourages me to change course (not marine engineering specifically), cos she sees no prospects in the chemical industry. all the chemical companies are suffering losses and whatnot

there's also the thrill and danger of encountering pirates! i'd love to bash in the faces of scum! :D
and in the even if the ship capsizes, then it'll be a Man VS Wild (I LOVE that show) adventure
or in the event that i get killed by pirates cos i was trying to be a hero or if the ship capsizes and i somehow go down with it cos i was seasick and legs jelly-like or smth, i won't hurt the feelings of many people since i'll have little friends with this job, and the friends i make there might probably go down with me too haha. then for those who i have as friends.. well i'm sure they'll get on with life as they have better, land-loving friends, who didn't abandon them for sea-life.

HAHAA and if i get to have rum, I GET TO SING YOHOHO AND A BOTLE OF RUM!

I think there's internet on the ship also, so i won't be sooo cut off from outside world anyway.
